Gorilla trekking Rwanda Itinerary

• Day one: Arrival and transfer to Volcanoes National Park
• Day two: Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park
• Day three: Optional second Gorilla trek in Volcanoes
• Day Four: A visit to the grave of the fallen gorilla hero Diane Fossey
• Day Five: Drive to Kigali for your flight out.

DAY 1: Arrival and visit Kigali memorial center

Past arrival and after having got in touch with your guide, get to Visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial center referred to as the general exhibition ground of genocide in Rwanda. This is the only place where you will find the realities of the genocide, including truth about the historical Rwanda genocide story of 1994, catalogues with details of the genocide using photographs, video and written accounts plus a range of artifacts, personal testimonies, Memorial Gardens containing ten graves and National Documentation Centre of the Genocide which all add to the importance of the deceased. Drive to Ruhengeri for dinner and overnight.

DAY 2: Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park

After breakfast, you will move to the park headquarters where your guide will complete the essential official procedure of briefing. You will then meet your ranger guide for a briefing about gorilla tracking in the volcanoes national park. This exercise is to prepare you for the great life time experience of the natural beauty which starts with the first phase of tracking in the tropical forest that will provide comfort to fill the natural cool breeze of the park. After your gorilla trek activity, return to your lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

DAY 3: Optional second gorilla trek or golden monkey

Enjoy a second optional gorilla tracking which aims at exhausting the different gorilla groups different from the one of the day before. By so doing, get a chance to track while identifying each gorilla in the gorilla group by name to the extent that at the end of the day you can be able to know their differences and what brings such differences between the groups you have tracked. You can as well go for golden monkey trekking as Volcanoes National Park is one place where gold meets with silver. Enjoy a bush or forest lunch before returning to the Lodge for dinner and overnight.

DAY 4: Visit the African hero of gorillas

After breakfast take a visit to the grave of the late Dian Fossey, an American naturalist and the first white Gorilla Hero of Africa. Dian Fossey’s story is a beautiful one who to conserve these great apes in Africa. She basically learnt, exhibited and lived the gorilla lifestyle. If possible you can even grab your copy of Gorillas in the mist a natural move based on natural beauty of Africa rainy forests. Later have a free leisure break dinner and overnight at your lodge.

DAY 5: Drive back to Kigali to depart back home

Wake up in the morning after breakfast and then drive to Kigali to catch your flight back home, which marks the end of your safari.
